What is ‘The Zest’?

The Zest is a blog that provides practical marketing advice and information for entrepreneurs and small businesses, as well as commentary on current events and emerging trends in marketing.

Okay, I get it, but why ‘The Zest’?

Partly because I hope to provide you with regular doses of the very essence of marketing, but mostly because it’s the word I think of when I try to articulate my excitement about the topic. Plus, the name wasn’t taken – marketers seem to LOVE oranges, for some reason.

Who writes it?

The Zest is written by me, Jason Amunwa, a marketing consultant and designer in San Diego, CA. In numerous past lives, I’ve worked on behalf of a number of national and regional brands, including Royal Caribbean, KB Toys, San Diego Hospice and Fidelity Investments, with a variety of different types of marketing. Wait, you’re a marketing consultant AND a designer?

Yup, that’s right! I’m a thinker who does, and a doer who thinks. I tried to come up with some clever way of smooshing the titles together into a trendy label for myself, but ‘Designsultant’ just sounds really weird. Regardless, I have experience providing the upfront thinking, as well as the pretty art and execution skills to be able to add value at most stages of the marketing process.
